WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A UPS SYSTEM, SURGE PROTECTOR AND POWER CONDITIONER? Power surges, blackouts and brownouts are both common and costly. According to IBM, every home or business gets hit every day by at least one surge measuring between 100 and 1,000 volts. The effects of a surge can be subtle or dramatic, depending on the surge’s duration, intensity, and whether the affected devices have adequate protection. Surge protectors protect against spikes and surges. Most include EMI/RFI filtering to decrease line noise and improve audio/video quality. A surge protector should be sufficient for devices with lower inrush currents like TVs, stereos and home computers. If your equipment is mission-critical or your facility experiences frequent outages, a surge protector might not be for you. Surge protectors require less money up front but to ensure mission-critical protection, they should be replaced every few years. Power conditioners not only protect against surges; they protect against brownouts as well. With built-in voltage regulators, they continuously monitor power, then condition it and keep it steady. Power conditioners do not provide EMI/RFI shielding and will not improve video quality or line noise. While power conditioners cost more up front than surge protectors, they’re better suited for higher inrush devices like copiers and laser printers. They are designed for devices that need ongoing power regulation and are often used in factories and hospitals. UPS can do everything a surge protector can do, but its main purpose is to reduce downtime that can cost your business money. Unlike surge protectors, UPS features battery backup that allows equipment to stay up and running through power failures. Like power conditioners, many UPS systems also have voltage regulators that keep voltage at an acceptable level. For a data center or server room, a UPS is your best option. They come in various configurations for both single- and 3-phase applications. Many also include special features, like LCD panels, hot-swappable batteries and energy-saving operation.

This is exactly what I needed! I only have a few outlets in my living room. In the past, if I wanted to charge my phone or tablet, I had to unplug at least one lamp. Now, I have all the light I need and I can charge my devices. Wish I had bought this much sooner.

Unfortunately, the item I received made a high pitched squealing sound anytime a USB device was plugged into the USB ports, because otherwise I was very pleased with it. I already have two other Mifaso outlet extender/surge protectors, but I wanted one that wouldn''t block both outlets. This one seemed like a great option and it worked just fine when I only had regular plugs plugged into it. But after I plugged in a USB device I started noticing a high pitched wailing that sounded almost like a neighbor''s security alarm going off somewhere down the street. When I realized it was actually coming from below my desk I thought maybe one of my electronics'' power supplies was going out. But when I got down there to track it down I discovered it was this device, and that it only happened with the USB plugged in. It was kind of driving me crazy, so it had to go back.

In my bathroom, I have multiple items that stay plugged in all the time, and more that are plugged in only during use. Some of these have a large transformer which blocks the other outlet. In addition, two items require USB outlets. With only one outlet in the room, I was constantly plugging and unplugging lights, make-up mirror, telephone, night light, water-pik, etc. This outlet extender resolved that problem perfectly. The only downside is that it is not practical to use the plug horizontally as I had hoped. The weight of the Outlet Extender causes it to go diagonally rather than horizontally. Nevertheless, I am very pleased with the Outlet Extender and would buy it again.

I had a similar type outlet extender that had 3 USB A ports and ac outlets, but no USB C ports. This extender has both USB A & C ports which is a plus. I now use the USB A port to charge my IPAD with very good results. The USB A port puts out 5.5v plus and gets a good charging rating on the charging app. The USB A port on this extender did better at supplying charging power then a USB C port supposedly putting out 40w compared to 18w on this extender at the USB A port. I now use this extender USB A port to charge my IPad more quickly than that adapter. My old extender had a surge suppressor with LED lights to show the status and those didn’t work so I didn’t know if my devices were protected. This extender also has a very good suppressor with an indicator light that works and makes me comfortable that my devices are protected. I like that this extender has both types of USB ports and 6 ac outlets from one ac wall outlet. The other ac wall outlet at this location is switch controlled so I get all these other ports using this extender in the other wall outlet. At this time I am recommending this extender and I have not yet used the USB C outlet for charging, so I can’t comment on the power output. I will revisit this review as I experience all the ports and how it performs over time.

I ordered two of this, one for our Master Bath (picture shown) where we charge our Philips Sonicare & Oral-B ProClean Rechargeable tooth brushes. We love these for TWO solid reasons (1) 180° Rotating Design and (2) 1800 Joules Surge Protection. This is a perfect one to go with a GFCI Outlet (you won''t see it clearly, but I''ve plugged this into the Master Bath''s GFCI outlet).
The other one I use in our Mobile Devices Charging station (close to our Breakfast Table area), where we use the USB Ports in addition to the standard plugs.
Wonderful design... smart partnership between Mifaso & Amazon. Keep up the good job! (as usual, fast Prime delivery too).

Works great and the form factor seems to work well in most hotel rooms I also got one of those other mini-extension cables. In the hotels there is usually a power plug on a lamp, usually only suitable for one outlet and it is NEVER convenient for my phone charger. This little guy has plenty of places to plug in and I don''t need my adapter to charge my phone, kindle, and ear buds. I can even use it to charge my laptop without spreading stuff out all over the room (where there is the risk of forgetting it).

This outlet extender was just what I needed to protect the plug for the refrigerator! Our refrigerator outlet is upside down in relation to the plug for the refrigerator. However, the rotation option for this outlet extender is perfect, allowing the plug for the refrigerator to be plugged into the rotated outlet extender right-side up! Having the rotation option in a small-size outlet extender with surge protector is a GREAT IDEA! The small size with surge protection and rotation option makes this unit perfect for use in the wall outlet behind the refrigerator! I highly recommend this unit!

It''s 2" wide from the wall - again, not what I want, but selection is limited. But the final kicker is that the USB plugs - THE WHOLE REASON I GOT IT - stopped working THREE $%@ days after the return period. Yes, it''s only $15, but I''d like something other than a large ugly paperweight for that.
